By കാസർകോട്: ട്രെയിൻ യാത്രക്കാരുടെ മറവിൽ കേരളത്തിലേക്ക് ലഹരിമരുന്ന് എത്തിക്കാനുള്ള മാഫിയയുടെ ശ്രമം കാസർകോട് റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ പോലീസ് തകർത്തു. റെയിൽവേ പാതകൾ വഴി മയക്കുമരുന്ന് ഒഴുകുന്നത് തടയാൻ ആവിഷ്കരിച്ച ‘ഓപ്പറേഷൻ രക്ഷിത’യുടെ ഭാഗമായി നടത്തിയ പരിശോധനയിലാണ് ഭാവ്നഗർ – കൊച്ചുവേളി എക്സ്പ്രസ്സിൽ നിന്ന് 715 ഗ്രാം കഞ്ചാവ് പിടികൂടിയത്. പോലീസിനെയും ഡാൻസാഫ് (DANSAF) സംഘത്തെയും കണ്ടതോടെ പിടിയിലാകുമെന്ന് ഉറപ്പായ ലഹരിക്കടത്തുകാർ ബാഗ് ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് കടന്നുകളയുകയായിരുന്നു എന്നാണ് സൂചന.
ബുധനാഴ്ച ഉച്ചയോടെ ട്രെയിൻ കാസർകോട് സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോഴായിരുന്നു പോലീസിന്റെ അപ്രതീക്ഷിത പരിശോധന. ട്രെയിനിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും പിന്നിലെ ജനറൽ കോച്ചിൽ യാത്രക്കാർ ഇറങ്ങിയതിന് പിന്നാലെ പോലീസ് സംഘം ഓരോ സീറ്റും പരിശോധിച്ചു. ഇതിനിടെ ഒരു സീറ്റിനടിയിൽ അനാഥമായ നിലയിൽ കറുത്ത നിറത്തിലുള്ള ഷോൾഡർ ബാഗ് കണ്ടെത്തുകയായിരുന്നു. പരിശോധനയിൽ ബാഗിനുള്ളിൽ പോളിത്തീൻ കവറുകളിൽ ഭദ്രമായി പൊതിഞ്ഞ നിലയിലായിരുന്നു കഞ്ചാവ്. കഞ്ചാവിനോടൊപ്പം നൂറോളം ചെറിയ പോളിത്തീൻ കവറുകൾ കൂടി കണ്ടെടുത്തതോടെ, ലഹരിമരുന്ന് ചെറിയ പാക്കറ്റുകളിലാക്കി വിൽപന നടത്തുന്ന വൻസംഘമാണ് ഇതിന് പിന്നിലെന്ന് പോലീസ് ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.
ലഹരിക്കടത്ത് സംഘങ്ങൾ ട്രെയിനുകളെ തങ്ങളുടെ സുരക്ഷിത താവളമായി മാറ്റുന്നത് തടയാൻ ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടാണ് ‘ഓപ്പറേഷൻ രക്ഷിത’ സജീവമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രതികളെ കണ്ടെത്താനായി ട്രെയിനിലെ സിസിടിവി ദൃശ്യങ്ങളും യാത്രക്കാരുടെ ലിസ്റ്റും റെയിൽവേ പോലീസ് വിശദമായി പരിശോധിച്ചു വരികയാണ്. റെയിൽവേ പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷൻ എസ്.എച്ച്.ഒ എം. രജികുമാറിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടന്ന പരിശോധനയിൽ സിപിഒ സുശാന്ത്, ഡാൻസാഫ് ടീമിലെ റിനീത്, അഖിലേഷ്, ആർപിഎഫ് ഇൻസ്പെക്ടർ എൻ.കെ. ശശി, രാജീവ്, രാജേഷ് എന്നിവരാണ് പങ്കെടുത്തത്.
മയക്കുമരുന്ന് മാഫിയയുടെ വലയിൽ പെട്ടുപോകുന്ന യുവതലമുറയെ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ പരിശോധനകൾ ഇനിയും കർശനമാക്കാനാണ് പോലീസിന്റെ തീരുമാനം. വരും ദിവസങ്ങളിലും ട്രെയിനുകളിലും റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷൻ പരിസരങ്ങളിലും നിരീക്ഷണം ശക്തമാക്കുമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നൽകി.

Police and the DANSAF team foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics into Kerala by exploiting train travel, during a surprise inspection at Kasaragod Railway Station. As part of the special drive titled Operation Rakshitha, authorities seized 715 grams of ganja from the Bhavnagar–Kochuveli Express on Wednesday afternoon. Officials suspect that drug traffickers abandoned the contraband and fled after noticing the police presence.
The seizure was made from the rear general coach of the train after passengers disembarked. During a thorough inspection, police found an unattended black shoulder bag hidden beneath a seat. Upon examination, the bag was found to contain ganja neatly packed in polythene covers. Around 100 small empty polythene packets were also recovered, indicating that the consignment was intended for distribution and sale in smaller quantities.
Police believe organised drug trafficking networks are increasingly using trains as a convenient and less conspicuous mode to transport narcotics. To counter this growing threat, Operation Rakshitha has been intensified, focusing on railway routes and stations. Investigators are currently analysing CCTV footage from the train and station premises, along with passenger lists, to identify those responsible for abandoning the bag.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Railway Police Station SHO M. Rajikumar, with the participation of CPO Sushanth, DANSAF team members Rineeth and Akhilesh, RPF Inspector N. K. Shashi, and constables Rajeev and Rajesh. Authorities have stated that surveillance and inspections at railway stations and onboard trains will be further strengthened in the coming days, as part of efforts to curb drug trafficking and protect the younger generation from falling into the drug menace.
