എടയന്നൂരിൽ നിയന്ത്രണം വിട്ട് കാറിലിടിച്ച് ബസ് മറിഞ്ഞു; പത്ത് യാത്രക്കാർക്ക് പരിക്ക്, ദുരന്തം ഒഴിവായത് തലനാരിഴയ്ക്ക്

മട്ടന്നൂർ: എടയന്നൂരിലെ സായാഹ്ന യാത്രക്കാരെ നടുക്കി സ്വകാര്യ ബസ് നിയന്ത്രണം വിട്ട് മറിഞ്ഞു. ബുധനാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ട് ആറുമണിയോടെ തെരൂർ മാപ്പിള സ്കൂളിന് സമീപമായിരുന്നു അപകടം. മട്ടന്നൂരിൽ നിന്നും കണ്ണൂരിലേക്ക് വരികയായിരുന്ന ‘അജ്‌വ’ ബസാണ് എതിർദിശയിൽ വന്ന കാറിലിടിച്ച് റോഡരികിലെ മതിലിൽ തട്ടി മലക്കം മറിഞ്ഞത്. ജനത്തിരക്കേറിയ വൈകുന്നേര സമയത്ത് നടന്ന അപകടമായതിനാൽ വലിയൊരു ദുരന്തമാണ് ഒഴിവായത്. ബസിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പത്തോളം യാത്രക്കാർക്ക് പരിക്കേറ്റു.

അമിതവേഗതയിലെത്തിയ ബസ് നിയന്ത്രണം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട് കാറിൽ ഇടിച്ച ശേഷം സമീപത്തെ മതിലിൽ തട്ടിയാണ് ഒരുവശത്തേക്ക് മറിഞ്ഞത്. ഇടിയുടെ ആഘാതത്തിൽ ബസിനുള്ളിൽ യാത്രക്കാർ പരസ്പരം തെറിച്ചു വീണു. അപകടം നടന്ന ഉടൻ തന്നെ നാട്ടുകാർ ഓടിക്കൂടി രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനം ആരംഭിച്ചു. ബസ് ഡ്രൈവർ നിധിൻ, യാത്രക്കാരായ ഗീത (എടയന്നൂർ), ബാബു (ചെമ്പിലോട്), നവ്യ (കാഞ്ഞിരോട്), ബിൻസി (ഇരിട്ടി), ഗിൻഷ (തില്ലങ്കേരി), റജീന (നരയമ്പാറ), ധന്യ (ചാലോട്), ഷംല (കൂടാളി), ശ്രുതി (കൂടാളി) എന്നിവർക്കാണ് പരിക്കേറ്റത്. ഇവരെ ഉടനടി കണ്ണൂരിലെ സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു. ആരുടെയും പരിക്ക് ഗുരുതരമല്ലെന്നത് വലിയ ആശ്വാസമായി.

അപകടത്തെ തുടർന്ന് മട്ടന്നൂർ-കണ്ണൂർ റോഡിൽ രണ്ട് മണിക്കൂറോളം ഗതാഗതം പൂർണ്ണമായും നിലച്ചു. മട്ടന്നൂരിൽ നിന്നും പോലീസും അഗ്നിരക്ഷാസേനയും സ്ഥലത്തെത്തി വാഹനങ്ങൾ നീക്കം ചെയ്യാൻ നേതൃത്വം നൽകി. റോഡിന് കുറുകെ മറിഞ്ഞ ബസും തകർന്ന കാറും കാരണം കിലോമീറ്ററുകളോളം വാഹനങ്ങളുടെ നീണ്ട നിരയാണ് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത് . ഒടുവിൽ രാത്രിയോടെ ക്രെയിൻ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ബസ് ഉയർത്തി മാറ്റിയ ശേഷമാണ് ഗതാഗതം സാധാരണ നിലയിലായത്. റോഡരികിലെ മതിൽ താങ്ങായതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ബസ് കൂടുതൽ താഴ്ചയിലേക്ക് മറിയാതിരുന്നതെന്നും, അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം മരണസംഖ്യ വർദ്ധിക്കുമായിരുന്നുവെന്നും ദൃക്‌സാക്ഷികൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

The injured include the bus driver Nidhin and passengers Geetha (Edayannur), Babu (Chembilode), Navya (Kanjirrode), Bincy (Iritty), Ginsha (Thillankeri), Regina (Narayampara), Dhanya (Chalode), Shamla (Koodali) and Shruthi (Koodali). All of them were shifted to a private hospital in Kannur. Hospital sources confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Following the accident, traffic on the Mattannur–Kannur road was completely disrupted for nearly two hours. Police and Fire and Rescue Services from Mattannur reached the site and coordinated efforts to clear the road. The overturned bus and the damaged car caused long queues of vehicles stretching for kilometres. Normal traffic resumed only after nightfall, once cranes were used to remove the vehicles.

Eyewitnesses noted that the roadside wall prevented the bus from plunging further, averting a potentially fatal outcome. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by high-speed driving on busy roads, especially during peak hours.
