By കാസർകോട്: നിരവധി കവർച്ചാ കേസുകളിൽ പ്രതിയായ കുപ്രസിദ്ധ മോഷ്ടാവ് തൊരപ്പന് സന്തോഷ് വീണ്ടും പൊലീസ് പിടിയിൽ. മേൽപ്പറമ്പ് പഴയ മിൽമ ബൂത്തിന് സമീപമുള്ള കാഷ് മാർട്ട് ഹൈപ്പർമാർക്കറ്റിൽ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച പുലർച്ചെ നടത്തിയ കവർച്ചാശ്രമത്തിനിടെ നാട്ടുകാർ സജാഗരായതോടെയാണ് ഇയാൾ കുടുങ്ങിയത്.
കുടിയാന്മല പൊലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷൻ പരിധിയിലെ സ്വദേശിയായ സന്തോഷ് വ്യാഴാഴ്ച രാത്രി ഒൻപത് മണിയോടെ മേൽപ്പറമ്പിൽ എത്തി. പുലർച്ചെ വരെ കടയ്ക്ക് സമീപമുള്ള കുറ്റിക്കാട്ടിൽ ഒളിച്ചിരുന്ന ഇയാൾ അനുയോജ്യമായ സമയം കണ്ടെത്തി ഹൈപ്പർമാർക്കറ്റിന്റെ ഷട്ടറിലെ പൂട്ടു പൊളിച്ചാണ് അകത്തേക്ക് കയറിയത്. കാഷ് കൗണ്ടറിൽ നിന്നും ഏകദേശം 3,000 രൂപ കൈക്കലാക്കിയ ശേഷമാണ് ഇയാൾ രക്ഷപ്പെടാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചത്.
ഇതിനിടെ, ബൈക്ക് എടുക്കാനെത്തിയ യുവാക്കൾക്ക് കടയ്ക്കുള്ളിൽ നിന്നും സംശയാസ്പദമായ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടതോടെ അവർ നാട്ടുകാരെ വിവരം അറിയിച്ചു. നാട്ടുകാർ ഉടൻ കെട്ടിടം വളഞ്ഞതോടെ കുടുങ്ങിയ സന്തോഷ് ഒന്നാം നിലയിൽ നിന്ന് ചാടി രക്ഷപെടാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും ചാടലിൽ കാലൊടിഞ്ഞതോടെ ശ്രമം പരാജയമായി.
സ്ഥാപന ഉടമ കെ. അനൂപ് നൽകിയ പരാതിയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ മേൽപ്പറമ്പ് പൊലീസ് കേസെടുത്ത് സന്തോഷിനെ അറസ്റ്റുചെയ്തു. ചികിത്സയ്ക്കുശേഷം ഇയാളെ കോടതി റിമാൻഡ് ചെയ്യും.

Thorappan Santhosh, a notorious thief involved in several theft cases in Kasaragod, was arrested after a failed burglary attempt at Cash Mart Hypermarket near the old Milma booth in Melparamba. Santhosh, a resident under the Kudianmala Police Station limits, broke the shutter lock of the hypermarket during the early hours of Friday and stole around ₹3,000 from the cash counter.
Local youths who came to collect their parked bikes heard suspicious noises from inside the shop and alerted nearby residents. When locals surrounded the building, Santhosh attempted to escape by jumping from the first floor, resulting in a fractured leg. He was caught immediately and handed over to the police. Based on a complaint filed by shop owner K. Anoop, Melparamba Police registered a case and took Santhosh into custody. He will be produced before the court after medical treatment.
