തേഞ്ഞിപ്പലം: കാലിക്കറ്റ് സർവകലാശാലയിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി യൂണിയൻ അധികാരമേൽക്കുന്ന ചടങ്ങ് ഭരണഘടനാപരമായ തർക്കങ്ങൾക്കും നാടകീയ രംഗങ്ങൾക്കും സാക്ഷിയായി. സർവകലാശാല നിശ്ചയിച്ച സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞാ വാചകം തിരുത്തി ‘രക്തസാക്ഷികളുടെ’ നാമത്തിൽ സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തതിനെ തുടർന്ന് വൈസ് ചാൻസലർ ഡോ. പി. രവീന്ദ്രൻ വേദി വിട്ടിറങ്ങി. ഇതോടെ ഡി.എസ്.യു ഭാരവാഹികളുടെ സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞാ ചടങ്ങ് ഔദ്യോഗികമായി റദ്ദാക്കി.

വ്യാഴാഴ്ച നടന്ന ചടങ്ങിൽ ചെയർമാനായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട എസ്.എഫ്.ഐ നേതാവ് അമൽ ദേവ് സത്യവാചകം ചൊല്ലിയപ്പോഴാണ് തർക്കങ്ങളുടെ തുടക്കം. “നവലോക ക്രമത്തിനായുള്ള പോരാട്ടത്തിൽ ജീവൻ വെടിഞ്ഞ അനശ്വര രക്തസാക്ഷികളുടെ നാമത്തിൽ സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്യുന്നു…” എന്ന് അമൽ ദേവ് കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു. സർവകലാശാലാ ചട്ടങ്ങൾക്ക് വിരുദ്ധമായ വാക്കുകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയതിൽ അപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ വിയോജിപ്പ് പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ച വൈസ് ചാൻസലർ, ചടങ്ങ് തുടരാനാവില്ലെന്ന് വ്യക്തമാക്കി വേദിയിൽ നിന്നും മടങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു.

രാവിലെ തന്നെ ഭാരവാഹികൾക്ക് അംഗീകൃത സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞാ വാചകം നൽകിയിരുന്നതാണെന്നും അത് ലംഘിക്കുന്നത് നിയമപരമായി നിലനിൽക്കില്ലെന്നും വിസി വ്യക്തമാക്കി. ചട്ടങ്ങൾ പാലിക്കാത്ത ഇത്തരം നടപടികൾക്ക് സർവകലാശാലയുടെ അംഗീകാരമുണ്ടാകില്ലെന്ന കർശന സന്ദേശമാണ് വിസിയുടെ നടപടിയിലൂടെ വ്യക്തമായത്.

With the ceremony cancelled, the formal assumption of office by the student union has been thrown into uncertainty. The episode has divided opinion on campus, with one section criticising the Vice-Chancellor’s action as excessive, while others support the decision as necessary to uphold the rule of law and institutional discipline.
